Ivan Raymond Trafford Memorial nears completion

9S helped Mr Ferris landscape the ground around Caerphilly’s newest war memorial. The story of Ivan Raymond Trafford whose Spitfire plane crashed on the side of Caerphilly Mountain on 7th November 1941 is well known by many St Martin’s students.

Students planted bulbs and helped to move top soil. It is hoped that a plaque will soon be added to the stonework and that an official opening will soon be arranged. Mr Lyons was on hand to provide tools and advice from his eco club.
