Congratulations to St. Martin's GCSE students on attaining another exceptional year of results.  117 students equating to 61% of those sitting GCSEs this year attained 5 grades C or above including English and Mathematics.  More students than ever before attained 5 GCSEs at A* and A with 19% of all those entered achieving this accolade.

The English faculty attained the highest results ever with 71% achieving a C or above in English Language with 12% of those attaining an A*.

Students studying Mathematics which has long been a strong performing subject within the school attained highly once again this year and above Welsh government modelled expectations with 65% of students achieving a C or above.   The exceptional attainment was not limited to Year 11 alone but testimony to the schools pursuit of challenge for all students was exemplified in the achievement of 34 Year 10 students who sat Mathematics GCSE in Year 9 and this year went on to sat a GCSE in additional Mathematics to prepare them for the start of the A level this September whilst they are in Year 11.  Of the 34 year 10, 27 achieved distinction, 5 a merit and 1 a pass. Eclipsing their results last year in GCSE Mathematics.  These talented individuals will no doubt be our future engineers, scientists and mathematical theorists. Well done to all.  27 year 11 also sat additional Mathematics alongside their GCSEs with 10 attaining distinction, 6 a merit and 5 a pass. A strong foundation to begin their A level studies in Mathematics has been laid in preparation for future success within the schools Sixth Form Centre.

The school once again bucks national trends with large numbers opting for and excelling in creative subjects.   This year those taking GCSE Music made a clean sweep of the board with all 12 attaining highly- 1 A* 5 A grades, 3 B grades and 1 C grade.  This was mirrored for Art and Design with all 54 students passing and 13 achieving A*, 13 B grades and 16 C grades. Congratulations to the students and staff at our school who have worked tirelessly to attain such impressive results.

This year has yielded a bumper crop of A level results for learners studying at St. Martin's Sixth Form Centre with all key performance measures increasing.

Those learners attaining 3A levels at A*or A grade has increased by 7% illustrating the ability of the teaching staff to stretch the most able students to become the very best that they can.

Equally as impressive is the increase in those learners gaining 3A*-C grades which has risen by an astronomical 21%.

These significant increases in attainment are fundamentally due to the exceptional leadership within the Sixth Form that ensures well targeted care support and guidance is provided alongside a broad range of subjects that are delivered by exceptionally gifted teachers.

We are very proud of all our learners and confident that they will excel in their chosen careers and shape our future world for the better.
