  • Sixth Form Update

    Published 24/03/22

Good morning to all of our parents and guardians,

I am pleased to write to you with an update you on our leadership of St Martins Sixth Form Centre which is now a leading provider in the area and a major competitor in terms of sustained strong results at A level over the last 5 years.

Miss McCallion who has done a superb job of leading our Sixth Form at the school has recently attained a promotion to Assistant Headteacher level at another school where I am sure she will make further improvements to the education of the young people of Wales. We also have a strong replacement for her teaching post of Criminology a leading subject in our Sixth Form.

Following an exhaustive and rigorous recruitment process, we have secured a highly experienced Head of Sixth Form as a replacement.

Mr Brookes our new Head of Sixth Form has extensive experience of leading a large school based Sixth Form and will join us in June where he will begin to work with current year 12 to transition into year 13 and meet our year 11 learners as they move onto their studies at Post-16 level.

This is an exciting time for our Sixth Form Centre with results skyrocketing and new courses coming online which include construction, Geology, Hair and Beauty and of course our PSG Sports Academy which is the first of its kind in Wales.

Over the next few months we will be sharing more details on these new developments and how your child can be part of our Sixth Form Centre which combines the highest teaching standards with a strong pastoral system that will ensure success for all learners at every stage in their education.

    Kind regards

    Mr Jarvis

  • Year 12 & 13 Parents' Consultation Evening

    Published 18/11/21

    Dear Parent/Guardian,

I am pleased to invite you to our Year 12 / 13 Parents’ Consultation Evening, which will take place online Thursday 25th November 4pm - 7pm.  The main focus of the evening will be to give you an update on your child’s academic progress.  There will also be an opportunity to discuss any other concerns, for example well-being and behaviour.

Due to COVID numbers still being a concern in our community the school has decided to keep this event as virtual. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and receive an email confirming your appointments. These appointments will then be conducted using the same website via its video calls feature (you will have the option to just use the audio and turn off the camera if you wish). Please watch this parent training video for more information. As many of you will know, Parents’ Evenings are always busy occasions, therefore, this software will also ensure appointments are kept to 4 minutes, with a 1 minute gap in between each. This will help the teachers to keep to their tight schedule of appointments and eliminate waiting times for you.

Appointments can be made from Monday 22nd November at 7am and will close on Thursday 25th November at 3pm.  Please log into stmartinsschool.schoolcloud.co.uk to access the platform.

We look forward to speaking with you on 25th November 2021.

    Yours faithfully,

    Miss H. McCallion

There may be limits on spectator numbers and we may ask all gymnasts to leave the venue as soon as their group's medal ceremony is completed. Please make allowances for this when arranging chaperones.

Currently, the competition will be held on 6x4 beds.
